Last spring I bought a few orchids in Florida and imported them (quite legally) into Canada. A few days ago, one of them bloomed for the first time. Epidendrum porpax is a subtle and understated little plant, but quite lovely in a subdued sort of way. I’m delighted to have hit on the correct combination of watering, light and fertilization required to bring it into bloom and am even more excited that several of the other plants purchased in that same trip are also sending up bloom spikes.
