Driving through Quidi Vidi Village this morning I stopped to have a look at a premises under development which will house a series of new craft studios (more on this later). While there, I wandered out on to the dock of the craft premises and snapped this quick shot of a local, independent brewing company, Quidi Vidi Brewery, across the harbour. The wind was minimal and snow was falling just enough to make things pretty but not enough to really feel like Winter meant it; all the elements for a pleasant stroll and a rather nice scene.
The pop of red and green in an otherwise grey landscape is very dramatic. It warms up the bleakness. Beautiful photo.
I love colours in Newfoundland. They really are that bright and stand in dramatic contrast to the landscape a lot of the time. Comes from a long tradition of using ochre as colourant and boat paints for house paint!
Just a stunning photograph, that’s all I can say. Its just brilliant!
