There was a weird sort of visual effect when the sun came up this morning and it’s not just some trick of the camera. In the above picture you can see striations of the atmosphere. Below, you can see a sort of halo of orange around the sun (easier to see this in the smaller photo). It was pretty neat and I was glad that I was able to grab the camera and take the shot in time. Makes the sunrise look a little like it’s melting.
